It is a platform for a virtual talent show which furthers Margikas’ endeavour of showcasing the self-expression of individuals with special needs in an effort to bring out the essence of their being.

Neena Rao (PhD)
Neena Rao, PhD. has years of diverse national and international experience in academia, research, training and implementing developmental projects. Her multidisciplinary training spans Economics, History, Natural Resource Management Policies and Environmental Governance. Her experience is diverse, having worked with diverse groups ranging from Native Americans, African Americans, and Latin Americans in the US, to the indigenous peoples of Nagaland, Andamans and the interiors of AP and MP in India.
During her last assignment with SaciWATERs, she worked as the Director of Projects & Partnerships; South Asia Coordinator and an elected Member of the Governing Board, CapNet, UNDP - A Global Network for Water Resource Management.
Her book, ""Forest Ecology of India: Colonial Maharashtra"" has been published by Foundation Books Cambridge, University Press, India. She has also published several papers in Journals and Books of national and international repute. Her recent publication has been a chapter in a book, Edited by Laurent Grayer & Christophe Jaffrelot, Trajectories of Marginalization, Ed: by Harper Collins, India & Hurst Publishers UK.
When her son was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, Neena was inspired to give up her twenty-year career in academics and development, and establish Margika, an NGO working towards mental health awareness, inclusive education, and other services directed toward ‘special-needs children’.
Margika works towards creating an environment of multi-pronged care for those with mental and developmental disorders in India. To transform the lives of those afflicted - from one of simply surviving, to leading lives to their full potential, and thriving!
